Good Morning (2014)

Good Morning is a comic examination of ideas of sexual identity and age anxiety via the story of a man (Peter Knegt) who — on the morning after his 30th birthday party — wakes up with both a massive hangover and a 17-year-old boy (Oliver Skinner) sleeping on his couch. Made with a tiny crew over a weekend in Montreal, the short screened at over 30 film festivals around the world, and gained an unexpected cult following among gay youth in China.

Are You There Joy? It’s Me, Jennifer (2016)

Are You There Joy? It’s Me, Jennifer follows a woman (Knegt’s real-life mother Jennifer deGroot) as she tries to figure out what brings her joy after reading Marie Condo’s book. Made as part of the Inside Out Film Festival’s annual “In My Pocket” initiative, which asks filmmakers to make a short using only their phone and less than $50.

Plus One (2017)

Plus One depicts two strangers forming an unlikely bond when they meet at the singles table of a lesbian wedding. Made with generous support from a BravoFact grant, the film screened at a dozen film festivals around the world, including the Provincetown International Film Festival and Frameline.

Jenny & Pete (2018)

Jenny & Pete explores a lifelong friendship between a queer woman and queer man. Made as part of the Inside Out Film Festival’s annual “In My Pocket” initiative, which asks filmmakers to make a short using only their phone and less than $50.

Say Uncle (2022)

Say Uncle tells story of estranged friends Jake (Peter Knegt) and Drew (Heath V. Salazar), who reunite because Drew is hoping Jake might offer up some of his sperm for a baby. The film screened at the Provincetown International Film Festival (2022), the Inside Out LGBTQ Film Festival in Toronto (2023) and the Mardi Gras Sydney LGBTQ Film Festival in Australia (2024).
